300-SD valve adjustment tools?

I am getting around to doing some more work on the SD, seems like I should probably do a valve adjustment as I have no idea when it was last done. I pretty much understand the procedure for doing the adjustment, but I don't know where I should get the special wrenches. any thoughts?

you can use 2 14 mm wrenches or get the bent ones from dieselgiant.com or somewhere else and a 27mm 6 point (12 point will do) deep well socket.. 3/4 in drive.. rember when turning the engine over at the crank or anywhere else never.. never never never ever go to the clockwise (left).. also feeler guages.. i bought a craftman set from sears.. diesegiant.com has the DIY so its helpful .

when facing the engine to turn it over to adjust the valves you basicly tighten the crank bolt to move the engine so the cam lobes are where they should be..

also.. never ever turn the engine clockwise..

I thought I needed the special wrenches but I tried it and was glad I didn't spend the $$ on them. Its not that hard to do it with out them.

Clockwise. Imagine your wrench on the crank bolt with the handle at the passenger side. Always push/pull it from the passenger's side to the driver's side.

Thumbs up

You can get by without, thought it's nice to have the proper tools. Heck it takes me a 10mm and a coat hanger to do the BMW ones. Seriously.

you can do it with a pair of THIN 14 mm wrenches..many guality wrenches are too thick to fit .but I got a set of Hazets for $58 on ebay and that does make the job easier.

get a set a feeler guages too....you need those regardless what wrenches you use.
