TDI owners?
Along with my two diesel MBs I own a VW TDI.
Anyone else own both a MB and VW diesel? JWJ 1983 MB 300D (>354,000) 1985 MB 300TD (>180,000) 2000 VW Golf TDI (>140,000) |
Yep, the wife says the SD has to go:(

I miss my TDI regularly. Sweet little ride, plenty of power and crazy fuel mileage. Amazing heated seats in that rig.

Diesel on!

How about everything but a VW diesel???;)

Mom owns a 05 passat TDI, love the power on that car. And when i "need to fix something on it" i take it around the corner and smoke the tires:D

I have a 98 Jetta Tdi with 233k on it. Bought it brand new in 02/98. Best car I ever owned. Most expensive parts I ever saw. More stinking electronics and computerized stuff that does not need to be that way.
No I would not buy another one. I will run this one to 500k and then decide if I will sell it.:P |
two instrument clusters, three maf sensors,
one trans. control module, two injection pumps...
Of course that's for two TDI's... One '00 Beetle sold at 90k, one '00 Golf still with us at 126k. It's a great car, but for a while there, for both cars at around 80k, there was always something electronic. To be fair, everything except for an injection pump on the Golf went before 100k, so most of the above misery was solved free of charge. |
I have both an '01 Jetta TDI and an '87 MB 300D!!! I must admit - I LOVE the TDI and the heated leather seats are excellent!!! No problems with mine either and I'm at 90K. In fact, I'd like another TDI!:)

160K Km on my 2001 and 150k on my 2000. Both have gone through 1 MAF.
They both will start in -35C too  |

98 Jetta TDI I bought new is nearing 400k miles.
Best car I've owned hands down. We still bond every day during our 150 mile round trip commute to and from the office. |
97 Passat TDI
We owned a wonderful Passat TDI. I had to strongarm him into even looking at the car, but then he loved it. We owned it for 6 years and put almost 100K on it in those years, we never seem to live near where we work!
It got 50 mg when I drove it and 45 when he drove it (he let it lug too much). It died when the timing belt broke and then Tom tried to start it several times. He had no idea what happened, tried to start it, THEN called me to tell me the car had stopped. We don't have it anymore, so don't ask. I'd buy another one in a heart beat. BUT, just know that you won't be able to work on it, at least I wasn't able to. It's kinda made so that you have to take it to the dealership or at least a good mechanic to do almost everything. It's also not as big as a nice old 70s or 80s MB. But ya cannot beat the mileage! Ginny in Denver |
