The eBay dangers are very real...
but as with all auctions, if 2 or more people both want something and both have deep pockets, the price can easily far exceed what we might be willing to pay. If a wealthy older gentleman decides he wants a vintage Benz in stellar condition, he might be more concerned with snatching up a creampuff, than he is with making sure that his bid fits the current market value. He might not even have a clue as to what the current market value might be. He might also be in his 70's... and unwilling to wait for another gem to come along. I can easily imagine some of these '80's cars selling for 6 figures, 40 years from now. |
