blondie listing left

college kid finally announced he thought there was something wrong after a week or more. he never heard a noise until now and his mom and i took it for a ride. WOW did it ever list. okay i know the front left spring is down 1 1/2 coils when it broke in december but this list???? we get up the street and there is a small clang. okay we come back and park it that night.

the next day i get under the rear and look. there is a bulge coming from the left trailing arm. nothing like that on the right. up it goes on the floor jack. insert the stands and peek under the chassis. hmmmmmmm two cracks as wide as the grand canyon along the road side of the arm. go inside and consult computer for parts price. hmmmm. as much as i paid for the car originally.

consult with wife. determination. if any of you have a better left trailing arm and can part with it make me an offer. otherwise it looks like a new parts car is available for the buzzards.

New? Not!!

I had a pair, but needed them for my coupe. The crud just sits on top where the spring is seated & rusts an opening for the water to get in & rot it out on the bottom. There's plenty of good ones out there. Don't give up just because of that if the rest of the car is good. I can't believe anyone actually buys them new. $$$$$ big time.
The solution next time. POR-15 (rust inhibitor) the top of the arm. As an extra measure, fill the arm with hot oil & drain. There's a hole behind the brake backing plate. Paul.

Als auto Salvage on 45 has 5 w123s 414-425-1890. I got a rear trailing arm torched off for $50, and even got the rotor, half shaft and caliper with it.
Give them a call and mention my name.
