Just my opinion, your real problem is where you live, not your car...

Everyone, we know that a diesel smokes naturally, no there's no need to get your pants in a bunch over a little letter, you know it doesn't apply to you, so just "fuhgeddaboudit!". They're going after the "clunkers".

They have that system here in TX. The SD has been reported, but not the D. I figure the best way to get back is to report every city transit and school bus you see, in addition to state and city government owned vehicles.

E320CDI's don't seem to smoke, or make much noise either.

I'd write a smart a** comment on the letter and send it back. The person who reported you was probably driving an H2, getting 9mpg and proud of it!

I'd be stalking their place of employment, and start writing complaints for each.

Am gonna lay low. Replying to their survey is not mandatory. It's like the IRS -- best not to provoke 'em.

I once asked a CARB official if he drove a gas car. He said he did. I said, Well, consider that my diesel puts out more soot - or asthma- or cancer-causing particulate matter. And consider your gas car puts out more CO2, blamed for causing global warming. I said then you must agree: I may be killing L.A.; but you, my friend, are killing the World.

I'll bet the nimrod that complained about you wasn't riding a bicycle. Which makes them a hypocrit. Start a collection and wallpaper your garage like I hear someone did here.

Is it R. Leo who's got the wallpaper made from these letters?

The link above titled "Online Mercedes-Benz Service Library" seems promising, but when I go to the 300SD section, it will only go so far before bringing up a "not found" page. Anybody get this website to work?

I only got it to work if I used Internet Explorer to browse the stuff...firefox and that website don't seem to like one another.

I posted that in my sig because I had a hell of a time finding the link after the DIY sticky disappeared.

Apple Safari loaded all of the w126/OM617 sections fine.

A few days ago I was at a stoplight and this W123 wanted to enter the road from the parking lot. So I waved him over to go ahead of me. Guess what? I got smoked!

But I'd rather report that to you guys...
