Hey Dana, some a-hole did the same to me too while driving in Hollywood. I think left a greasy film on their S500 Turns out the vacuum diaphragm had a hole in it sucking engine oil anytime I let off the throttle. It kept the tailgaters far far away when it happened though.

Drove a 79 rabbit one time down the highway. It had this interesting issue where it would blowby SO much that would start picking up engine oil and throwing it into the air filter housing. Someone had removed the restrictor so this was possible.

Busting along doing about 65 in a 55 and in the rear view (night time) see headlights dissapear and a brown cloud forming...

Oh dear...haha...let off and slow her down.

A little bit of brillo pad stuffed into the CCV line helped and never had the problem again. That little 1.6L gas was sure a strong engine

I had a valve cover gasket blow out on my 63 T-Bird on my way home one night. It dumped oil right on the exhaust. A friend who just happend to be on the same stretch of road thought they were fogging for mosquitos until he got close enough to see it was me. We still laugh about it every now and then.

Here in the Great State of Tejas, TNRCC/TCEQ has an online form you can use to report smokers. FWIW, I have received at least one 'smoker' letter for every one of my licensed diesels.

It's a convenient tool and I've made it my personal goal to use it to try and report every smoking gasser I encounter. However, I don't believe that the form will accept out-of-state registrations or exempt (city, county and state) tags.

FWIW, Palangi was the Forum member threatening to repeatedly report himself in order to have enough letters from TCEQ for garage wallpaper.

one word to fix the problem, BIODIESEL or WVO. I get light smoke even if i floor it or rev it hard i get a small amount of smoke, probably what a gasser would get. My friends SD thats on diesel made a huge puff of black smoke when we were revving the hell out of it in my driveway.

I've heard that bio-D reduces smoke (as well as power and economy). Trouble is, its suppliers gouge -- pegging their veggie product to the price of petroleum -- for their fuel. Not a way to win customers, at least this one.

As a lark, I've thought about reporting Priuses as excessive smokers.

Dana, if you want some biodiesel I have some sitting in buckets if you would like to try it out just to see if the smoke decreases.....but as you said that takes all the fun out of it.

I don't want to sound like a whiner, but I don't like the smoke.

Diesels already have enough problems with acceptance here in the US, partly because of the smoke that came out of so many pre-turbo diesels and badly-tuned cars, I prefer to not further that misconception.

Most will agree that the GM diesel pretty much torpedoed the diesel car in the US, but this doesn't help.
