These tanks are a thin wall design....so its possible..just I haven't heard about them. (And no I am not an A/C pro ). Need to ask a coworker, to ask his son who is an HVAC guy how hard it would be to find one..never saw one on Ebay. Could get around a non functional valve like he appears to have.

I did some internet searching myself, and came across nothing. The tank is kind of robust. If I had to guess its 1/16" thick.

I assume that you had the hose connected? There may be something like a valve core in the outlet.

Stupidity paid off!!!

Using a flash light looking in the valve I could see what looked like it was the seat of the valve.
It wouldn’t move when I twisted the knob. I took a pick, cracked the valve and started to pry it up.
It released sprayed ice cold Freon all over my hand and scared the crap out of me, but I got it open!!!

Thanks for the help as always.

The 30 lb tank is a "DOT 69" spec tank. The green valve means its a one way valve.(Cant reuse it) If there is nothing coming out then one of 2 things is true. Either the valve is malfunctioning or there is NOT refrigerant in the tank. My vote is the valve has gone bad. If that is the case then just throw the tank away. There is no way to get the refrigerant out then.
