Everything is coming back together pretty well. Got the upper and lower oil pan mounted (thanks for the parts help Jim Harris) and hopefully will be bolting the tranny up and dropping everything in the car this weekend.

Oh yea, the turbo 300D engine upper oil pan will not work on the normally aspirated engine.

That is what I was wondering. How bizarre.
Strange to lose all of the brakes @ one time. Perhaps it was sabotaged?

Who knows.

the answer is that she didnt lose both at the same time

the rears were probably out for a good while and then the master cylinder failed and the fronts were then gone.

imho

as my daddie used to say "it may be fool proof but it is not damn fool proof". i am not meaning to offend so i hope the person whom the brakes went out on is not the reader.

It is not Tom and keep in mind that this is NOT my car. The boyfriend of the lady that owns the car did the brake job which started this little incident.
I did not pull the head to do the job so the car did not get a full rebuild. I am doing only what it takes to get it back in operation per her request. I used used oil pans and oil pump (the front/rear main seals and brgs are new) and so far the costs is right at $1100. I have not started trying to figure out what is wrong with the brakes yet. I told her before I started the work that she was looking at spending between $1000 and $1500 and I informed her that she would probably be better off trying to find another one but she wanted this one repaired.

It doesn't have to mean that all of the brakes failed.
If your front brakes go you'll THINK that all of your brakes are gone. Fronts do the most work.
The empty rear reservoir indicates a big leak in the front system.

that the rear compartment did the rear brakes.

The rear compartment is definitely for the rear brakes on a W126.

When I moved the car into/out of the shop I noticed the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor without affecting the stopping one way or another. I need to try to remember that when I go for the first test drive.

Sidudri - anything in particular you want photos of. I have just come in from moving the engine from the engine stand to the lift. If everything goes according to plan I will get it back in the car this weekend.

I'll bet.

Started it up and ran it around the block a few times today. I'm having to use the emergency brake to stop and hopefully will get around to repairing the brakes later this week. Car starts easy, idles smoothly and runs out good. Had a couple leaks that I had to tighten some hose clamps on. Start up was uneventful other than the butterflies I get in my stomach waiting for the oil pressure to come up.
