Sounds similar

Greetings,

Don't know if I can help, but I am assuming that this is a four speed auto, right? Have you driven it shifting it manually from S to L to D? Does it shift fine then? On mine, S is basically 1st gear, but when moved to L it shifts second then third gear, and moving it to D finally shifts 4th. Is your setup the same if you shift manually? AS on mine I do believe that there is linkage that requires my adjustment. On yours, you need to post what it does when shifted manually as well as in the D position all the time. I'd post on the tech section, you'll get the proper responses you are looking for.

It sounds like the bowden cable might be out of adjusment. your mechanic didn't happen to have the valve cover off and get the likage out of wack did he?

i have had this problem on more than one . It can be one of three things, the bowden cable is too tight, the valve body has dirt in it or one of the clutch packs has lost a circlip and the clutch plates are loose. i would start by adjusting the bowden cable to spec ,then check the modulating pressure at idle in park . if that is OK, replace the valve body with a clean one and chwekc in the pan for debris. There should be very little debris,if any in the trans pan. If a circlip has come adrift, parts of it will be in the pan..
