Couple basic questions about my 300d

Just want to know what grade oil I should use and how much(302,000 miles)? Also does anyone know what size gas (diesel) tank I have in this thing?

What is this thing? Without stating the year and model it is hard to guess. It is helpful to put it in the signature area.

See from another thread it is an 83 300D turbo, but the above still stands.

Answer to the orig question is a good diesel rated oil, for soot control and somewhere around 6.5 to 7 qts. You want to end up with level at midpoint between notches on the dip stick.

i would suggest 5w40 mobil 1 truck and suv (aka delvac 1) if you can find it in your area. If not ive used conventional 15w40 delo 400 from chevron.

Travis,
Notice Lycoming-8's post. Location in upper right hand corner, vehicle details at bottom. Click on "User CP" at the top and update your signature (vehicle info) and your location.
Location can be very enlightening regarding climate issues, and area specific type of things.
Anyone without this info on their signature would do well to update....

Actually, it holds 7.9 quarts. Mine usually takes about 7 to 7.5 to end up at the midpoint on the dipstick. I also like Mobil 1 5W40 (Truck and SUV), but it can be hard to find. I believe the fuel tank is about 21 gallons total, but mine only seems to accept about 18 when the fuel light comes on.

Do you have an owners manual?

Danny
