Where do you get viton hose

Where can you get viton hose.I have found a few places and man is it expensive. Is there any other hose that will stand up to bio?

Well, you may not necessarily need Viton hose. It's been determined that the reason hoses start to leak after using B100 biodiesel is because they're OLD, not because of the material they're made out of. I'd just go and purchase some brand new rubber fuel hose for your car, it will stand up to B100 use just as well.

I agree. Do a search on my name and fuel lines and you will find a thread I posted with photos of my fuel lines after using B100 for a year. The gist is that the lines looked just fine. I purchased Vitons and that is what is on the car now, because I had them. But if I had to do it again I would buy MB fuel lines and I wouldn't worry about them. I spend nearly $100 on Vitons from greasework.org, but a set of MB fuel lines will cost half that.

I also disagree that you can use rubber hose with biodiesel. You may at first experience no problems with regular rubber. Thicker rubber will last longer. That's the way corrosion works. It will slowly eat away at the wall and eventually burst the hose when complete failure has occurred. It could take some time. Lots of research has shown that biodiesel is corrosive to rubber and not recommended for use with regular hose. Viton can be overkill, as there are other types that can handle it, but it is the best for it in overall resistance. There are also many other grades too. Not all viton is the same and not all viton handle the same corrosive fluids. Most of that expensive hose you're finding is still the cheap grade A. (Grade A is all you need for biodiesel)

I had somewhere found the SAE number for the fuel resistant hose, anyway go to autozone and tell them you want the hose with the blue lining, they should have it, it SAE j30something, about 5bucks a foot.5/16 id hose fit fine on my 124 as for the return line hose,i got viton from www.fryerpower.com along with some o rings ect. I thought the price was ok. Don

I found some at a local hose supply store that supplies hose and fittings for the hydraulic industry.

This is the Fuel Injection Hose that is viton lined
Fuel Injection Hose SAE J30R9 or 30R90
(SAE 30R9 is a medium pressure, low permeation fuel injection hose recommended for gasoline, ethanol, sour gas, diesel and BIODIESEL fuels. It's FKM fluoroelastomer tube provides excellent chemical resistance and exceptional permeation properties to meet the latest EPA and CARB emmissions requirements.)

The Fuel Inlet and Fuel Outlet hoses can be replaced with ID 5/16 hose. The Plastic Hoses can be replaced with size 1/4 inch ID hose.

The The Injector Fuel Return hoses I believe Frypower has a decent price on them.

1/8" ID is what you need.

fruitcakesa 02-05-2010 07:11 AM

Great, thanks. I am trying to track down possible leaking injectors and the return lines are a potential leak source.

I purchase all of my fuel hoses from Goodyear Rubber. Tell them your application and they match it.
