How not to remove the ignition lock! Butchery at its finest.
Well this is how NOT to remove and repair your ignition lock. Ruined and otherwise perfect no crack dash. I just bought this from the owner today and it has nearly 0 blowby with 217k on the clock.
I guess I will be doing a dash removal/install pictorial very soon. Anybody have a black dash they want to get rid of? http://dieselgiant.com/whydidtheydothis.htm |
bummer... was it stolen?
Nice zip tie useage:mad: is the glass on the instriment panal broken off too? More pics of the car plz ~Nate |
No it was not stolen. I bought the car from a friend of mine and he did not really understand how to take the dash loose. So he took a dremel to it. Actually I just put the zip ties on it to keep it from falling down. He had electrical tape holding the whole assembly up.
Yes the plastic is off the dash cluster, but I have it and can fix it good as new. |
bummer.... can you even get a new dash, or do you need to go diving for it?
Did you get a deal on it? ~Nate |
I will have to go junking for it at pull a part I guess. I got it for 1k and its needs LOTS of work. But it has almost no blow by and the cruise works. Since I sold my other 300d I wanted another 4 dr. turbo. I will get everything up to snuff in a few weeks.
I just fixed the blinkers and horn, so only 2000 more things to fix. |

Geez, what a mess. A black dash should'nt be too hard to come by. I have one that I would trade for a blue one?? Those are the ones that I have had a hard time finding in an UNcracked condition  |
Yea the blue dashes are crack monsters. I think its the dye they use in the material that makes it prone to cracking.
|
Wow that looks like it was stolen!:D

Yes I know. I wish my friend had asked me to do the job for him. 4 bolts removed would have saved a perfectly good dash.
