Bilstein HD installation question
I installed Bilstein HD rear shocks yesterday, but being the first time that I had ever installed shocks, I do have a question about the turning rod.
When I tightened the top locknut on the shock rod, I didn't realize initially that the rod was turning as well. So I continued tightening (or so I thought) for probably 10-15 turns, until I noticed my error. I didn't turn the rod back at the time, or at least not much, as it didn't appear to do much from my vantage point in the trunk. I did notice outside the car that the ride height had been raised between 1/2 to 1 inch, based on the height of the other side. My question is: Can I go back and just turn the rod the other way for 10-15 turns, or until the ride height is the same on both sides? Was the shock damaged by doing this? Jason

I doubt the shock was damaged and the cause of the height diff. was not caused by turning the rod.

I am now thinking that the HDs are non-adjustable. I just went out this morning to check the height; both sides are now identical. Settling of the springs/shocks?
By the way, Bilstein HDs are profound improvement in handling. Ride quality is much more firm but far more composed. No more massive bobbles on railroad tracks or bridge approaches.
