I'm quite curious how the SDL will run with taller gears out back.
I don't understand the need for a 2.47 with the 603. It's so happy to rev up to 3500 rpm with very little extra noise. What's the benefit of less revs other than slightly elevated fuel economy at the expense of driveability? Remember that they don't take off like a 617 as it is. With the 2.47, that will be even worse.

Personally, I can't see the benefit.

That ALDA tweak made a vast difference in dead stop performance on my 603, also running on the high side of factory spec for boost helps too. Also the 2.47:1 is about perfect for around town driving. Most of my intown speed limits are 45mph.

I don't see it hurting off a dead stop performance that much.

How fast will a stock 82 SD be going at about 3500 rpm? Thats what I usually cruise on I-91, never gotten a second look from a cop yet, knock on wood.

I figure 3k is about 70 on the SDL. So the SD should be about 75ish at those rpms?

I agree with Brian at least in the hilly North East it would be kind of pointless to put a real low rear in an SDL. The 603 is so happy to rev, 3k rpm is the sweet spot and it hits at just about the perfect speed.

With those tires, you're doing approx. 81 mph on level ground at 3500 rpm.
