EDIT: Figured it out. 230 on the block is 230 CE obviously.. Hahahha.

There is a guy that lives down the street...well about 2 miles...but I pass by the place every day and saw the car last week for the first time. Euro Car Completely. If it wasn't for the rust in a couple spots it would be spotless and is all complete. I figured it was a 123 Diesel Coupe but I stopped by today and it is not.

The guy was very nice but can't figure out what his car is. The title he has says it is a 190D, but he talked to some MB guy here and he said it is a 240 as the engine has a 230 on the block. Yes it says 230...don't ask me how that translates to a 240.

Ok but here is the deal it is a Gas Euro with a 4 speed. It is completely Euro except the car has no chrome decals on the back. He didn't even know it was a 123 body. I showed him on the VIN...(I'm trying to remember but I think it was all numbers) I told him all coupes that I knew of were 300CD's but when it came to gas and euro I had no idea.

Anyway (how do I get myself into these title messes....at least it isn't me this time) the guy can't figure it out and his insurance company is having a hard time with it. He says it is a 80 or 81.

So long story short. What car does this guy have. Sorry I know this probably belongs on another forum...but I like it here on the diesel side.

Pictures of the car and the engine compartment would certainly help. There was a 280CE made in the 123 body style between 1978 and 1981, not sure about any others besides the 300CD and the CDturbo.

It's a230CE

I believe the CD's were only available in North America, Europe had the 230CE,
280CE and even an AMG 500CE(!).
