Actually the smartest, best way to buy one of these German wonders at the dealer is to go in wearing holey blue jeans, white T-shirt and flip flops... it really seems to disarm the pressurized salesmanship routine and makes them focus on closing the deal, not prolonging it or trying to eak out your last dime...worked for me everytime over the last hundred years and I'm what? Well, lets just say an old Mercedes driver...

I'm not happy with the quality of the mileage badge. I've had mine for about a year and it appears water got under it and is discolored and starting to peel. I wish I had the old style, those looked much nicer.

There is a 1,000,000 mile badge but the others are all kilometers.

Well, I stopped in today and got the paperwork filled out. The Service Rep had to ask the Service Manager if he was allowed to fill it out.

He said that he had heard of their cars going past 200,000 miles. He said now he can say he has actually seen one.

(S350D 231,000 miles --> much more than what is needed for the 250,000 Klick badge.)

I stopped in the dealer 2-4-07 for my 250000km & the 500000km badges.
the young kid at the counter never heard of it, but there is a lady that
has been there 30 years. she said "I`ll take care of that". will take about
4 - 6 weeks to get them.

The kid looked at me with wide eyes when I told him it has 335700 miles.
WOW!! he was impressed.

I have a silly question and I bet everyone here knows better...I'm sort of a MBZ Newbie, I have had my 1981 240d for the past six years. now when i got it the speedometer read 80000 and i was told that the one flipped to zero again after you cross the 100000 mile mark. i was told it had 180000 then 280000 but it hit the 100k mark and its still going on. can anyone clarify for me???

Went in to get my 83 verified today. Boy. no one knew anything about it, nor wanted to do anything. The Sales weasel sent me to the parts department. Parts sent me to service. Service sent me back to the sale weasel. Weasel sends me back to the parts guy, that begrudgingly fills out the form.

Ya like I am going to do any business with this place now??? Felt like they treated me like I was in their way.

You would think that they would be proud to have a person come in with all of those miles. I certainly will not be going to this one for my 84 which has 313,000 on it.

Nor will I be going to this place for any parts, alignments or whatever.

What kills me is that the sales weasel (which was supposed to be the Sales Manager) wasnt doing anything anyways. Perhaps... just perhaps he would like to get to know a person that MAY be in the market in the future? Guess my government and military credentials that were hanging around my neck were not enough clue that I could afford one of his vehicles.

Thanks for letting me vent.... I feel better now.

Well I am going to check this out, my problem is on my 1970 220D the odometer has not worked for 22 years and still does not work.
In 1986 the engine had 70,000 on her. I should be able to get the 500,000 kilometers---312,000 miles badge. I am going to try.

Well I went to the dealership, in through the lobby, a sales person on the phone talking, I go through the lobby to the service center, and ask for the service manager, he was a nice guy, I think this was the first time he has seen high mileage award application, he did take a minute to read it, asked about the milege and passed it on for someone else to fill in the blanks. No problem.
My problem is they did not even look at my car. I thought someone would come out and look at my car and say, wow she is still on the road, she looks good, have a good one.
I got nothing.
