86 SDL Vacuum HELL and Ambient Temp gauge

Ok boys and im sure a girl or two?

I have been messing with my vacuum lines for weeks and now after so many loops around the hood the nieghbors are looking at me funny~~~~
I can not find a vacuum schematc exclusively for the SDL
all the ones I can locate are for the SD and are only remotely near what I have! I thought I could make it work but for some reason cant have EVERYTHING!
Today I finally got REAL heat and vent flaps ~~lost my extra boost but got good shifting and no clunking...so it will live this way untill I find the rite diagram!

Also the darn ambient temp gauge is set for celcius although that amuses me I dont want to have to convert in my head for a simple temp check!
Do I have a grey MKT car that just came that way or can I reset it? and if It can be changed~ HOW?

The ambient temp gauge on these cars always displays the temp in Celsius, its german, thats just how it is. There's no way to "set" it to Farenheit.

If you don't want to do a conversion, then just figure out what C temps are comfortable, or look some up and remember some ranges:

-20C= REAL cold
-10C= Pretty cold
0C = Cold
10C = Cool but nice (also is exactly 50F)
20C = Warm
25C = Very Warm
30C = Hot
50C = Your tires are now melted onto the pavement
500C = You've made a wrong turn and are in a volcano....

I have SDL vac diagrams on the CD. Shoot me an email and I can probably send them your way in PDF format.

Their are two slightly different versions CA and Federal.

My 87 SDL display was F not C. At anything above 60F it would display 136 or 137. It was accurate below 60F.

Was it an option then? I've seen a lot of them with the gauge in C. I don't see how you'd "set" it differently though....unless you really went in depth and modified the circuit board for it or something to switch to a F calculation. If thats even possible....

Or...

0 = 32
5 = 41
10 = 50
15 = 59
20 = 68
25 = 77
30 = 86
35 = 95
40 = 104

Every 5 deg C = 9 deg F.

You can also take the C reading and multply by 2 and then subtract 10% of that and add it to 32.

For example, 17 deg C = (17 * 2) - (17 * 2)*.1 + 32

Or 34 - 3.4 = 30.6, add 32 and the final answer is 62.6 deg F

Things sure were big back then. Nowadays all you need is something like this:

Add a little LCD display/microprocessor and you've got temp and humitidity stats! (that chip does both)

Thumbs up

Ah yes, that was right after I picked up mine.

That was the diagram I forgot to send you.

I swapped my SD's °C for a °F a while back, nice modification.

I'd still take that diagram if you've got it.

Thanks

thanks

for all the reply's.
i found a decent diagram with no legend but its enough to keep me ocupied this weekend!
funny but My owners manual shows the ambient temp gauge in farenhieght!
should it be lit up at night?....MINES NOT!

Took her out last night and with the current way i have it setup~~it will only run/shift well once it gets to 80 on the temp gauge.

GLAD to see info on that funny knob near the fire wall with numbers on it.
was hard not to play with it but will now since I know what it's for!

I adjusted that knob up to 5 it bumped the idle up a bit.

The outside temp guage should be light at night.

Just installed my $6 replacement ambient temp LCD today.
It is in Fahrenheit, and it does have a backlight.
No more blob in the middle of the dash
