Yup

I bought the car for 10 dollars less than a month ago.

I've spent 1500 so far.

Not counting the 400 for biodiesel production setup.

well that was this order and the last one was 800 sumthin for all of the front suspension parts. after this order i need about another 1000 worth and it will be perfect besides paint. i finally found my p/s leak. i had to put it on a lift to find it. the gear box is the culprit. so now i get to remove it and rebuild it.

Yep I know all to well, I am up to $1300 this year for the SDL, hasn't been driven this year either.

Next is a few more front end parts plus misc stuff, $400ish.
Rebuilt CC amp $200
If the trans doesn't stop leaking *()^*(^(^ I'm just going to buy a rebuild and swap them, $1200ish.
Body work this fall is looking very possible, $$$$ you don't even want to know.

But whatever its all in good fun.

Gearbox reseal kit is $15btw

Just did the math, if I do the body work this year along with the trans I may be looking at pretty darn close to a $10k year.

ordered the gear box kit in my parts order. i will be doing the body work myself and then having those areas sprayed. what i save on the body work i will put towards the paint. once the work is done i will have it sprayed by a very high end shop.

Well the trick is to do a lot of the body prep yourself. Ie remove everything. The shop I want to have my car done at insists on pulling all the panals off the car themselves and spraying them then re mounting. High end shop, told them I want a MB quality job he said thats how it needs to be done. That way at least they can spray the door jams real well.

The part that is expensive is replacing all the chrome around the windows, on the trunk, new grill. Door and window seals are up their as well. I bet replacing all that stuff costs 30% of the whole job.

As you know perfection doesn't come cheap, but its so worth it!

Man you seem to be real picky about that machine.. I've had my 300D for.. 3 years and the biggest expense was Bilsteins... it drives better than when I bought it. THe only difference is, the AC doesnt blow cold (needs a charge? i dont know and dont really care) and the CC doesn't work. Next biggest expense was brake pads all around. I am kinda dreading a suspension rebuild though, but it isnt clunking around or anything yet. Trans leaks suck though, our Isuzu Trooper leaks ATF pretty nicely.

In reading your list I have replaced all those things (except maybe 2 or 3 of them) on my car in the time I've owned it. I have spent only about $50 on it this month though, new rear sway links and upper radiator hose...and a can of anti-rust spray....its a good month....bad months have been in the $2000+ category...... I've done about $5k in maintenance on my car in about 3 years, + a $3.8k purchase price.... I don't really care though, I'll pour money into it as long as its in existence.....

I've had my sd for 6 months now and only spent 50 bucks on some new wheel bearings and 70 for the allignment after I replaced my free tie rods ( found them in my trunk when I bought it). I did get a veritable stack of repair receipts an the car going all the way back to 1991. Totalled well over 20,000 bucks.

Even though all you guys spent on your rides, you dont have a car payment, you can fix it yourself and the insurance is cheap.
