Best pump for Bio out of drum
I have a hand pump that I use to pump Bio out of 55 gal drums. Today I put on a goldenrod filter and it takes forever to pump the bio through. So it is time to go 12 volt or 110 volt pump. What is the best and cheapest pump that people use for bio...thanks

Look for a 110V Jabsco type (collapsable rubber impeller) pump. It is positive displacement (self priming) and will handle liquid and sludge. I have a 40 year old pump of this type that I have connected to a 1/2 hp 1728 rpm motor that is as good as you will get.
If you are pumping French fry oil or some similar fast food oil then you have to make sure that your filter does not clog with fat. If you strain the oil through a bag filter you will see that the inside will clog with fat. Better you first get rid of the fat and the fine filter the oil. |

If you have a battery powered or cord drill you can use one of these. I used it when i had to pump biodiesel from a drum works great! and pumps fast! I still use it now when i collect oil from restaraunts.

I use a hand crank rotary pump to fill my tank from a drum. It's the yellow plastic pump from Northern Tool (about $40), compatible with most aggressive solvents and alcohols. I've been using it for B100 for 3 months now, no leaking. It takes about 3-4 minutes to fill my tank from empty.
