300SD Rear Carpet Removal

How the heck do you do it (it looks messy) and is it worth it relative to alternative -- cutting it. Keep in mind i have a true beater with good powertrain. It has bad leak somewhere and back floors are soaked under carpet. I want to let them dry. Chances of finding leak soon are nil. Thus I am leaning toward cutting the rear carpet so i can at least prop up both sides to let it dry.

Searched here and no luck. I cant find procedure for removal of rear carpet in in FSM? Anyone know the file name on that or link?

thanks

Isn't too hard to remove. you need to take out both front seats, all four door sill kick-plates and both of the middle door pillar covers, & take out the screw under the carpet in the center console tray.

Then carpet slids to the rear of car and lifts out.

Give my cell a call if you need assistance on this. I can walk you through it (i.e. I had rear water leaks and had to do this a few too many times! ) : 1-269-303-1637

thanks deerefanatic. very nice of you. i will call if i get stuck. perhaps i will just take it out and put tempoary floormats down untli the leak is found. Is it possible leak coming from trunk? It may be easier to find leak that way with carpet out anyhow. Plus i can go ahead and respring the worn out seats that hurt our butts.

thanks.

Bet your leak is from the rear window. I had a leak that started suddenly and was so bad there was an inch of standing water on top of the carpet I replaced the rear window seal - fixed.
