Can it be built up and ground down to stock size? This can be done to most gasoline-engine cranks, but I don't know about diesels.

i would assume

that it can be built up and turned. i dont know how much that would cost but i suspect a good used crank will be a lot cheaper.

Welding And Maching

You might check with a local machine shop and see if one of their suppliers offers welding and re-maching crankshafts. Only forged cranks need apply. Cast cranks won't weld and turn down. Had a 454 Chevy that qualified. Was welded up and turned back down to stock on all mains. It was not really that bad in price. If you just have one main or throw that needs welding, it should not be too much......maybe. The world has turned over a few times since I rebuilt that 454......but gosh, was it a runner....over 600 ft. lbs of torque and 530 hp. Ole SPARKY would fly with that engine in it.

Regards

Find a good machine shop that can grind and polish it. I just had .25mm removed from one and installed the .25mm under bearings. I think there are some more options in regards to undersized bearings too.

Anyway, I have a rod available. Email me concerning it.

Crank Supplier

I'm the buyer of that crank. Tom just to let you know it came in yesterday and all looks good. Thank you as I could not find a good crank anywhere. Seemed like non-booogered 240 cranks were hard to come by. I hope you have better luck for your 300D.
