adjusting injectors

Help!!!!
I read a post some time back and I want to read it again and it went somthing like this. It was in regards to ajusting the injectors while the engine was running? Using a breaker bar he adjusted or smoothed out the performance of the engine. Can anybody help me out on what he did and where to find this tread again?

The only thing i can think of in that regard is moving the IP while the engine is running. Very hard too do with the steel supply lines hooked up but I've heard its possable.
Advancing the pump (pushing it toward the block) on an engine with lots of miles could help preformance. Better to replace the timing chain tho

Yes but you dont adjust the IP with the engine running.

The only thing I can think of is the rack damper bolt. The injectors are not adjustable on the engine. You can take them off and adjust pop pressure, but not while running.

Oh, it can be done, as a good friend of mine did it. He couldnt get much but he did advance the timing with the engine running.

He must be talking about the rack damper tho.

Maybe adjusting the delivery valves and thereby each cylinder's individual timing? There was a thread about that recently.

Well..........you don't adjust the rack damper or delivery valves with a breaker bar!

No to balance the injectors you have to pull them and put them on a tester. First you make sure the spray pattern is good then you check the pop pressure. Pop pressure can be adjusted and if its nice and even your engine will run smooth.

The injectors are torqed into the head and left alone.

I think he is talking about moving the whole injection pump with a crow bar after looseing the 3 bolts. This toothless guy in Central Wisconsin that used to wrench on these cars did it & it actully works well for freeway power (passing power) a little extra smoke on kickdown but a lot of power.

There might be a special touch to it so make sure you know what your doing.

here is the post of which i think you are referencing
fuel delivery valve adjustment
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.....like I said, lots to screw up with maybe little to gain. This helped me stop the pinging due to my own mistake (try to never mess with the delivery valve holders). The car is running much better, but still not to the point it was at before this whole game started. There is a noticeable decrease in power. and i can only attribute this to the improper setting of the #4 element.
For the cost it would be well worth it to remove the pump and have it bench tested....but the above procedure definitely got my car behaving better then it was before "THE MISTAKE"
