240D main bearing question

Hello,

I'm getting ready to install the crank on a 240D engine and the main bearing set has two sets with grooves in them and then the rest are solid. My question is on which journals do the sets with the groove go? Also, which way do the thrust washers go in? Thanks for the help!

I finally looked in the manual.
The brgs with the grooves go in the block side of the brg locations (excluding the thrust brg location) and should have holes in them that locate over the oil supply hole in the block. The main brg at the thrust brg location does not have any grooves and the tabs will only allow it to fit at this location. The brg cap brgs do not have grooves and should have different tabs versus what goes at the thrust brg location.

Thanks Jim,

But I'm still confused. I have (2) sets with grooves in them. (1) set with a hole, but no grooves, and (2) sets that are solid. This is what came in the new main bearing pack. Unfortunately I removed the old bearing from their caps awhile back without noticing the differences.

The info for the thrust bearings makes sense, grooves facing the crank. Thanks!

I edited my post to reflect what I found when I looked it up.
