Window Mechanism Supposed to look like this ?
Left rear window regulator from 300D.
Looks bent to me. But maybe it is supposed to be this way. Looks like only left rear work in left rear, cannot substitute. Can anyone confirm that this looks bad, do I need to replace it ? Thanks.

It sure looks bent to me, the gears should mesh evenly. I actually managed to straighten one out on my 240D, but don't count on it working. If you try to bend it back and it breaks, look for a new/used one.

I have two to practice with.
Was thinking vice with slow pressure to bring it back. But my feeling is that returning it to shape will weaken it. How does this happen ? A too powerful electric window motor ? And people that insist on holding the switch down ? Anybody tried removing the swingarm that has the spring on it ? Between my two units - One has a straighter mounting plate with bad teeth on arm. If I could switch the arms around, might work okay. That spring looks mighty strong.

I assume they bend if the mounting bolts are loose and the regulator is unsupported by the door frame. I've never taken one apart, except to remove the motor.

I agree, it bent likely due to loose bolts that allowed the motor torque to bend its framework. You'll probably just have to replace it entirely, I think they are made of aluminum aren't they? Aluminum doesn't fare too well with bending....usually just gives up and breaks.

A broken or worn nylon glide can cause it to bind also.

Done
Okay, just got done tweaking this on the workbench with a vise and my
most used bending tool - crescent wrench. Worked out each wrinkle and got it straight without breaking. So - it can be done. No idea how long it will last. Removed motor (move arm to position where piece of 1/2 inch extension can hold arm against aluminum frame). Have to be careful about that spring loaded arm. Serious injury can result if not kept under control. It was under tension the whole time while I worked on it. Originally I was just trying to remove the arm. But the thing was so bent I could not rotate to release tension. As I straightened to release tension I just ended up getting the whole thing right. It is in. Sliding the window up and down seemed pretty tight (manually). Anybody got a suggestion for getting glass to slide easier ? Anyway, lubed up guide jaw, added some lube to gear on arm.
