non benz but for a diesel

anybody know of a place that will cut custom sizes for the convex mirrors on the right side of the car?

i have a huge mirror on the right side of my dodge that is flat. the little convex stick on mirror is too bulged and the view is miniscule and worthless. i need a huge one that is roughly 10" x 9" with a sort of tear drop shape.

i keep running over things on that side of the trailer!!!! cant see well enough.

Maybe you can replace the right side mirror with a later model Dodge mirror that has the convex glass??

Might be less costly than a custom cut piece..........

BTW, did you see the thread on the disassembled 350?? Tends to support your position on the strength of the block.

the mirror is an aftermarket mirror, which for the price paid should be perfect but is sadly, not. and yes, the dodge mirrors that come on the one tons look pretty good now. the ones i have looked very good in the picture in the catalogue.

yes i did see that thread. i just got back from a few days out with the dodge and trailer, so that is what i happen to be thinking of first.

the space between the bores is kindof shocking isnt it? i didnt realize they were so close. they must be siamesed since there is no room for water space by the looks of it. i have never been a fan of siamesed bores. it seems like a quick and dirty solution to more dispacement. reminds me of the 400 small block chebby, which is not known for its durability.

so yeah, it sure looks like the block would have to be pretty flexible. i dont think that it can possibly distort enough to actuall bind a piston enough to bend a rod though. i still favor the flexing being the cause of premature head gasket failure and resultant hydrolock. the tar and or carbon lumps also seem possible to me, the overall engine design being rather poor with all the tar buildup etc.

i read through all that thread and will do it again in more detail. i have no clue what caused the holes in his piston. hydrolock would only bend the rod, i think. i dont see how it could hole the piston like that. that would take hard objects i think, like broken glow plugs perhaps. that engine must have had a ton of blow by!
