does an ALDA exist on non-turbo's
hi guys, feel a little embarrassed for having to ask this, but the reality of it is that i have never dealt with the alda valve. My past two MB"s have been non turbos, and i was always under the impression that NA engines did not have the elusive alda valve,is this correct? and what exactly does this thing do?
is the valve that dash pot looking thing that is on top of the IP? because i do have one of those on my 240. anyway, always wondered and have read many threads about the ALDA,guess i have had too much time to think about the 240 today,so i thought i would ask:o :o :o |
If you have a naturally aspirated engine, you have an "ADA". This device will regulate the fuel based upon ambient pressure. The higher you go, the lower the pressure, the less the fuel provided.
The "ALDA" does the same thing as the "ADA", however, it also provides for additional fuel for turbocharged vehicles when they get into boost from the turbo. The turbo causes a climb in the manifold pressure and the ALDA advances the rack to provide additional fuel to take advantage of the additional air. |
so is this ADA adjustable on the NA engines? ie.....will adding additional fuel help or increase performance in any way? if so how is it adjusted?

They should have an adjusting screw just like a turbo ALDA. CCW on the screw should work too. You just won't get as much out of it as a turbo engine would.
Don't make too much smoke or you will pay for the small extra power in poor MPG. EDIT: http://i3.ebayimg.com/01/i/06/b6/2d/30_3.JPG |
thanks for the info, good picture......but where exactly is the alda (ada) and the adjusting screw?

M-Shop limits the photos to 66Kb.........but other servers don't.;) If you have photos that are larger than 66kB, you can use a photo hosting service such as Image Shack. No cost to do this and it works very well. |
