Bosal vs. Eberspaecher

Well, that's a fun thread title, ja?

Those are the brand choices on 1981 240D exhaust header pipes. While I don't suppose anyone has ordered both to compare quality - I though I'd ask if anyone had ordered either and was satisfied.

My 240D has a new exhaust system from the header pipe backwards. Yes, that was rather short sighted on the previous owner's part, but then again, he never had to pay for a new header pipe that I have now found has a few holes.

Eberspaecher is a OE quality part, while Bosal is at best a second quality aftermarket part!

Thank you for the help - I would have no way to know otherwise. Maybe I could guess by looking at the price, but in the case of this part, the higher priced part is the one apparently lower in quality. And the higher priced, lower quality part is marketed better by being listed first and with a picture....

Good to have the resources here.

And the reason that they have a LOOOOOOOG warranty is that they FAIL often!
Installing a header pipe OR exhaust more than once is too much!

Years ago I bought a complete Bosal exhaust sytem for my 83 300sd for less than $200 . I live in the northeast and my car is outside 24/7 with all the salt and snow it lasted me 7 years and I got a free replacement. If I remember correctly the dealer wanted over $800. Also the entire job took me less than 2 hours to install this also included putting the car up on jackstands and I had never done it before. $600 saved bought a lot of fuel then.
