sunroof gearbox - washers??
As many of you know, I'm in the long process of repairing my sunroof. in taking the gear box apart to check the gears I have 2 washers that fit somewhere??? Trouble is, I'm not sure where they go? There are only 2 and they are both the same size -right now I have them on both sides of the plastic gear wheel, but I'm thinking one may gone on the clutch. Anyone have an idea - I know, I should have paid atention...

They go between the large gear and the backing plate. Try to stick them to the "stub" on the gear before you put the backing plate on. At least you can get your gearbox off...mine is stuck until I can remove the cable. I can't seem to get the tall nut off of the emergency drive to allow removal of the gear and therefore gearbox with the cable still in place.

bgkast,
To remove the long 15mm nut, you have to use a screwdriver to hold the slot inside the nut, while loosening the 15mm nut with a wrench. About the washers, I have two large gears inside my gear box - one white plastic and one one metal. The large metal one is right behind the 15mm nut and is part of the clutch mechanism, the other is above it closer to the motor. I am assumming that is the one you are talking about - and that both washers go together on the SAME side of the gear?? It looks like one definitely goes on the top side...? ryan
