final figured out what the ARV on turbos does for emissions

I final figured out what the Air Recirculation Valve on the trubo does on Californian emissions cars. It is there to get/keep the oxidizer trap/cat hot so it works. When this valve opens, it increases the EGTs in two ways. First, it recirculates the air through the turbo raising intake temps. Second, the turbo has to move and compress more air to maintain the same boost level, more back pressure is created because the turbine has to do more work. So it robs you of power in two ways.

I thought about running out and disabling mine but then I realised if I do that my new cat may plug. Then I remembered that the recall letter said it was made like their new cats and all those go on after the turbo. So it may be totally unnecessary now. Since I'm going to intercool and it may plug because of this, I'm going to kill it tonight and find out if it will plug :D .
