RPM's at 60MPH 77 300D automatic

Does anyone know what RPM's my engine is turning at various MPHs. She runs real nice at 65-70 yet I'm afraid I'm abusing the old girl.

I've always asumed olders diesels are not to fond of higher RPMS, I wonder what the new Audi le mans diesel turns.....

You are turning 3500 rpm at 70 mph.

You are turning just over 3000 at 60 mph.

All figures are based on level ground.

The speed is definitely on the high side, but, the lack of torque from the n/a engine tends to demand the short axle ratio on those vehicles, so, with the lack of an overdrive, they definitely sing.
