I ordered some new chrome pieces for my grill, but I would like to repaint the insert (egg-crate) before I put them on, mine has turned white-ish over the years, but is in good condition. Could anyone recommend a good paint & color (gray??) for this? Thanks

I just looked through the paint selection till I found a nice medium gray , then sanded the surfaces lightly with 400 grit wet and dry wraped around a small flat peice of wood . Try to apply the paint in as thin of coats as you can or it will look sticky. It's a lot of work(the sanding is) and the gentleman that said to get a new insert is probably right on tract.

You never know what kind of useless information you might get from people like me. Paint it to suit your taste. I painted my 2.3-16 grill, the aluminium strips and the the chrome surround all black. Just the Star is chrome. And the rear Star is painted black as well. In fact the entire car is painted black. Just like the early Fords that were available in any color you wanted as long as it was black.
