You only need to change the fuel filters when they start to catch the diesel sludge which biodiesel or WVO cleans from the tank. I bought some "really cheap" inline fuel filters and installed one before the inline filter near the fuel pump. When the sludge clogged it, I started losing power at WOT and changed it on the roadside. This fixed the problem. A couple of weeks later it clogged again, same story. I found that the filters clogged quicker with a low tank of fuel (more sloshing of the fuel keeping it in suspension), so I drove it with a low tank, but when SWMBO wanted to use the car, I filled it up so she wouldn't be likely to need to change the filter. To be sure, I showed her how to do it herself. There is a stock of (3) filters in the trunk. After about 3 tanks of Biodiesel the filters stopped clogging up. There is still one there and I have replaced the primary filter and the secondary filter once each since we bought the car. SWMBO has now covered >20 000km on biodiesel (with 50% WVO added) in 2 years.
