OK, that Seal-All stuff is on my list for next time!

I'm trying this makeshift fiberglass/epoxy thing. I may regret it and wish I had heeded better advice, but I need to get my car off of the ramps and jacks in the front yard. I'm sure it isn't making for happy neighbors.

Anyway, I'm attaching a close up of my dubious patch. Also I'm showing off the new screen. The old one was pretty yucky, and I suppose I should be cleaning out the entire tank.

I ordered one extra hose thinking it was for the return line, but turns out it is a much smaller diameter than that (see below). I'm thinking it probably is for fuel return up at the the injector lines. That whole business is leaking anyway and needs some work, but at least it won't create GALLONS of fuel puddles which was what I was seeing with this tank problem. Here's hoping.

Talking So far so good...

Put patched tank in this Saturday. Of course it was 99% empty. Connected new hoses. I needed fuel in the tank. My TDI is a greasecar so I have plenty of WVO on hand. Temps Saturday were 70F or so, and sunny. What the heck, in went about 5 gal's of WVO. She started right up and kept on a hummin' and pretty soon it was smellin' like a diner in my front yard.

I've since added petrol diesel so I have a 50-50 mix. Still smells more like WVO. I think it is awesome that these cars can run like this!
