Question about the oil pressure on Mercedes.

Hello,

I'd like to know whether the oil pressure on Mercedes cars is measured after the oil passes through the oil filter element, or before that? Thanks.

Eric

Until I study the flow diagram I won't be able to answer completely.
Bet somebody here knows the answer already.

But... It it were picked up after, you might think that filter quality would effect oil pressure.
Unless a filter bypass exists and then you would not see any change.

Using the in dash mercedes gauge I never have anything other than the full 3 bar at all times while driving.

Which my friends and I sort of chuckle at.

I think it must be after. I just put a new filter in and the gauge seems to take an extra second to ping up to 3 when I start the car. This would mean it measures it after the filter, right?

after the filter meida, before the bearings

This is a bit of an old post, but it doesn't look like there was a definitive answer and I was looking at the diagram for my '83 300Dturbo last night -- on mine, the gauge measures pressure, after the filter media, of the oil that goes for lubrication. So.. the more the merrier (unless your more is because of clogged nozzels).
