300D W115 Idle Adjustment Cable Repair?

I fired up the W115 300D today to move it to the other side of the street because of Thursday street cleaning and cranked up the idle adjustment where it suddenly went loose. :( and now it spins somewhat freely and no longer actuates the idle adjustment.

Can the idle adjustment cable be repaired or do I just have to buy a new/used one?

So you are saying that it feels like it let go right behind the dash contol knob? If so I can tear into mine and look at what it takes to get back together or take a picture or something. Never really looked at it out though. Or do you think something else is going on.

I have a 76 300D 115 Have you checked to see if the cable just needs adjustment because that is easy as tightening a screw, check on the throttle linkage.

It regularly turns about say 270 degrees or so CCW until it stops. This time it just spins freely in either direction without pulling the throttle linkage one way or the other. It's as if the gear or whatever mechanism inside just snapped or stripped a gear?

The "bullet" is securely fastened on the throttle linkage. The knob just lost its resistance like stripping a metal screw. It just spins and spins.
