I ain't giving up my AC either, and I still am going to blast it sitting in traffic on 100+ degree days.

But their is a lot of room behind the front bumper, actualy I was looking at the intercooler out of an 07 CDI today. I think it would fit perfectly, long, narrow, and fat. They run rubber intercooler lines on those cars, I'd have to remove the air box but thats it.

So around 600 for a header hmmm. I'll buy the header right before the turbo and get the intercooler first I think.

Oh and I remeber someone installing a cdi turbo on this forum. Lets say I take a mercedes intercooler and turbo from other cars, any way for me to hit 450 HP's?

Do I need my IP rebuild? It sounds cheaper to just buy a different pump than drop 1.2k

450 is my official goal now haha.

I haven't thought about differentials yet. I kinda didn't want to touch my transmission till I try to make it manual first.

*sigh* after installing the parts I've order I'm barely going to start my suspension upgrades! =/

450hp youll have to talk to the finns about that! they put a holset turbo on a 2.5turbo 300D similar to yours and got 450hp out of it. But i know they also put a AMG intake manifold not available here in the states.

Oh your the guy on my myspace buddy list, ever get your car greased?

sadly no... after my car was stolen and my kit was in it I haven't decided to get greased yet. I was going to do it after the engine/suspension upgrades and before the interior/exterior stuff.

Hmm how much is that intake and when should that be installed?

As Dave said you need to increase fuel delivery past what the stock pump can deliver in order to get a large increase in power.

I know the Finns have an english forum kicking around somewhere, I forget the link. Anyone have it?

To get over 180-190hp, you need to have your IP modified by Myna Diesel in Finland. That'll be $1.2-1.5k. You need the Holset turbo and header, another $1.0-2.0k. Full custom exhaust, probably $0.5k to have it done right by a pro shop. Serious intercooler with plumbing and intake manifold mods, $0.5-1.0k, if you don't mind either losing your AC or a long/narrow unit hanging out the front of a cut-open bumper. Add $1.5k for an AMG bumper to hide the intercooler. Basically, to get above 200-250hp, you'll need to drop a good $5k... and then another $2k for the beefed-up tranny.

Forget the manual tranny swap. Besides the fact that turbodiesels do NOT work well with stick shifts (there's a reason why Mercedes only made only ONE model from the factory with turbo+manual), the Finns have found that the manual trans is weaker than the autos and won't survive the power output unless you do a full custom aftermarket trans (i.e., forget it.)

If I were you, I would:

1) Do you suspension mods first (Sportline, etc) and fix the chassis up. No sense making big power in a chassis that can barely deal with stock power levels.

2) Consider brake upgrades too... the stock brakes are OK for stock power level, but a bit small for 200hp, and WAY small for 400hp. Luckily this isn't expensive, the 500E/SL500 brakes are a bolt-on.

3) Get an intercooler installed and plumbed with the stock exhaust, turbo, and injection pump. Max out the stock pump. Be happy with that while you're saving the money for the Myna IP ($1.5k), Holset & headers ($1.5k), exhaust ($0.5k), and SL600-spec tranny rebuild ($2.0k).

I have item #1 about 90% complete, and I have all the parts for #2 but they're not yet installed (full 500E brakes). I'm working on getting an intercooler (#3) so I can safely max out the stock pump without worrying about EGT's. I will max out the pump without an IC, but I can't stay at WOT for more than 30-60 seconds... EGT's get too high.
