Oh traffic.

Folks,...

"Somebody on your back flashing headlights"

Now where was that potato gun thread... I always wanted to put the tennis ball version on my car. And BTW - don't you drive a diesel... SMOKE 'EM. 8)

As far as the cars, I gave up driving a 5 liter Mustang on I-77 after being run off the road several times by cars not looking. I decided a 126 and now a 140 were better crunch protectors. Going diesel also slowed me down 20 mph which is probably good for my health and license.

No, not at all.

The only fear is when you see somebody in the other car driving and yapping on his/her phone and swerving in and out of his/her lane. Those instances make me think, if I go ahead and overtake them they might not pay attention enough and smash into me. Then again if I let them go I'd be caught behind their ambiguous signals and might get caught if they suddenly panic.

Oh, and don't forget the gravel-spewing trucks.

When I brake I make sure to step on the pedal at least three times before finally braking harder, that way the drivers behind me will see me. Kinda like what MB has installed on the new S (5 blip brake lights then goes full) but only manually operated.

Now that I remember it...

When I had my '90 Miata and drove around with top down almost year round, I hated old diesel Mercedes cars. They bloody stink! Driving behind one for extended periods of time on a highway with top down, well, will get your skin a bit darker and your brain even more so.

So when somebody repeatedly makes a last ditch-style attempts to pass you - think stink and let them pass.

heck no!

when i started driving you had to add your own seat belts. the dashes were bare metal, the switches would cut you up, the steering column impale you, the brakes would fade completely away with one high speed stop, and the tires were an absolute nightmare. my dad's 59 rambler american which i learned on (no synchro three on the dash), had no sway bar and if pushed in a turn would make skid marks half way up the sidewalls. amazing i never popped done.

and the only airbags in existance were on the back of a hoover!

Maybe a nozzle into the exhaust just after the turbo?? I've found it easier (and more enjoyable) to adjust the fueling so that a decent cloud is emitted at full throttle which is used sparingly...

I drive a Black S class

I drive a black S class. People tend to leave me alone for one reason or another. Perhaps they are worried that I will pull my assault rifle out of the glove compartment?

123 V.S. "Hummer"

'Rollover,Rollover,Rollover.

A large contingent of the troops Killed in the middle east in Hum Vees have been
victims of non roll (cage) [unibody, crush zonal] construction.
"And americans buy General Motor's products...Even to this very day???"

I'll sit in an upside down 123 and you can drop an upside down Volvo (Passenger car) on it
from 20 Ft. up and I'll walk away, afterwards!

(And the guy in the Volvo won't even have a head ache.)

I agree that the whole business with military vehicles that cant deliver simple protection for its occupants in all-terrain driving truly defeats the purpose. I mean, Jeep Wranglers got roll cages... Why cant the HumVees...

now i could be wrong, but the military humvees, i would bet are built to army specs. and if the army didnt spec roll over protection, they wont pay for it and then wont get it. just guessing.

but i dont think they are all that top heavy though.

course a land mine will turn one over i suppose, easily.

I just had to respond to this with ... HAHAHAHA! Yeah, right!

I've been almost run off the road by a trucker, ala Duel. I've seen MANY pin-headed truckers lodge their trailers under bridges and underpasses because they apparently can't read. People are people. Many are witless wonders. Most aren't, buy many are.

Not sure of this source is researched or hear-say. I would bet on the latter.

How it might work....

I'm trying to find a fuel pump that is reasonably cheap. I don't think the wsw pumps will survive the diesel fuel.

A small switch inside the cabin and I'll be all set.
Let's face it: you've got to use the power of the diesel engine to maximal effect. How 'bout using the technology designed by our veggie oil friends in which there are two tanks installed: the main fuel tank and the secondary tank, with a switch in the cabin to switch between the two. The seconday tank could contain the diesel/crankcase oil mixture and the main tank could contain the clean driving diesel. A flick of the switch and....voila....punishment for aggressive tailgaters! Then a flick of a switch and your back to clean fuel!
