i dont think there are any glaring weaknesses in that setup. the engine wont have a lot of power but should be very easy on fuel. the tranny is pretty much the same as all benz trannys from that era so they last a long time if serviced by the book, if not it will be bad or rebuilt.

i would look for smoothe idle and smoothe power delivery when driving. the shifting should be smooth but firm with no clunking or slipping. steering tight and no huge clunks or rattles when going over bumps. the brakes should stop smoothly and feel pretty strong without any easy locking up in a panic stop. ride should be firm and not bouncy. seats if it has a lot of miles prob the drivers seat will be a little broken down and have a tear at the bottom of the outside backrest bolster. springs and pads are reasonalbe in price and not too hard to replace. the ac will be sort of marginal if you live in a hot place even when working perfectly. prob it will be broken. doors should shut like a mercedes and it should handle precisely and not lean too much. it should be fun to drive but won't be a bullet.

anything i forgot to cover? this is pretty general stuff and if you have benz experience it may not be very helpful. if so, sorry.

good luck. it will be a good idea to get a benz specialist to check it out for you.
