The freeze 12 runs about 10% lower pressures than using R-12. So that is a benefit. If you have the R-12 then use it, if not freeze 12 is great. I actually prefer to use freeze 12 due to the lower operating psi. Hence a system that is not under the same stress.

Either way 134a is only good when used on a system that was designed to use it.
