83 240d, named the Dumpling, shifts or sways from right to left as I move from accelerate to decelerate. This feels like it is from the rear of the car. Tires are correct pressure and rotated. Nothing appears to be lose back there. Any ideas from others?

I have an '81 and and'83 240D. I have experienced this with both cars and the problem has been corrected or improved when I replaced the shock absorbers. I have heard and can well imagine that there are other suspension parts that can be replaced to tighten the suspension and improve the ride.

My first suggestion is also shocks. Do crosswinds affect the car? In turns on rough roads does it ever feel like the rear end wants to swap with the front? Get some decent Bilsteins.
