Has anyone dyed a headliner? Replacing cars interior..

Has anyone dyed a headliner? I am replacing my 85 300D interior..I have the old puke yellow green mustard interior and I have found a pristine interior (dark Blue) from a damaged 85 300D and pulled the entire interior, door panels, unbroken seat belts and all, down to the last screw. I did pull the headliner, but I observed that it might be a difficult to install drum tight like the original, so I would like to dye mine.

What dye brand did you use and how did it turn out? I would like to go from old puke yellow green mustard to medium blue.....

I haven't done the headliner (at least not yet) but if and when I do, I will use SEM color coat spray paint. I am so totally impressed with the quality and results of the SEM products I have used for several interior trim pieces (door panel, pillar covers between doors, rear pillar and rear center covers) that I can't see how anything else could beat it.

I sprayed the one in my 71 220, and it came out great. I have had people comment that it looke new. Most auto places have vinyl paint for headliners. Make sure to protect other surfaces. If the paint hits anything else it does not come off

Its not too much of a hassle to replace the headliner if you are reeal patient. I just used a new one, took a couple of hours and only had a couple of ripples... nobody notices. Just be sure you install the grab bars BEFORE you start stretching the lower sides or you may end up with some ripples you can't do anything about.
