govenment surplus 603A engines

For anyone interested, Uncle Sam is selling a couple of his MB diesel engines at www.govliquidation.com/list/c7601/lna/2.html... If that's not right just try govliquidation.com, then 'find items', then 'vehicles' then 'diesel engines'.

Anyhoo, these are in beautiful Alaska, perhaps meant for those strange articulated snow-tracks (haglund?) they need up there... Might be trash, might be new, might be a bargain for the right guy!

Might also be for the G-wagons the military was testing. I know the Marines have a few, not sure if any of the other branches are testing G-wagons.

Hey, Unc Sam doesn't give a rip about what it costs, especially right after April 15, though that does seem a little steep for an engine! The M35 'deuce and a half' trucks I've bought for less than $2G claim an 'aquired value' in the $40,000 range, a bargain by any govenment standard... and talk about a turbodiesel machine!!!

I understand that there are various shipping outfits that will pick up these gov surplus items without the buyer having to be there, etc. and ship just about anywhere... Good luck!

Yeap, this was posted in an earlier thread. It would be interesting if a forum member gets one and tell us the makeup of the engine such as the type of head (#14?), vacuum pump, etc, etc.

I'll bet shipping would be most affordable in comparison to rebuilding an engine.

You are probably right - they do offer FedEx as a shipping choice - bet that would be a tasty bill

Hey RL You are going to UT - you'll be 1/2 way there maybe you could toss a couple in the back of Marlene!

Is it just me, or is there no lower oil pan on these? Just
a sealed upper?

LOL!! Half way! you're a riot!

Austin, TX to Kanab, UT - Distance: 1303.7 miles or, less than 1/3 of the way to AK.
Austin, TX to Anchorage, - Distance: 4430.1 miles

Actually, I've decided to rent a car for the trek out west and got one helluva deal through our in-office travel agency. $174/wk for unlimited miles in a Taurus. Best I could do on my own was $350+.
