Diesel purge today
What a difference!!!! I also did the ALDA service and changed the fuel filters. The car revs like a gasser now. I will do a valve adjustment tomorrow.
I also changed the power steering filter and a few of the vacuum conections. Thanks Diesel Giant.

How interesting, I did my first purge today on my 78 300D. So much for it being snake oil. It made a big difference, kind of like adding a cylinder.

Funny, I had the same...
...question , as I was in Autozone yesterday, and they had this Seafoam stuff, which is listed on the container as the best thing since bottled milk, and could be used in ALMOST the same way (they recommended pouring it in the fuel filter for the Extra Clean engine!).

Show me pictures of pintle holes before and after your purge and I will take-back this statement: Don't waste your money on snake-oil miracle cures.
Read your factory service manual on cleaning injectors. Note: I do not sell any products or information for diesel cars. |

Diesel Purge is very good stuff, my 300CD always ran better after I would run a can of it through.
You can try Sea Foam, I think it is very similar to the Diesel Purge. I always run a can through the PVC system in all my gassers, and it does a very good job of cleaning out the top end. |

Ran one can through mine yesterday (would have done two, but could only find one locally). OMFG! What a difference! Cars faster than my gasser now (once it gets into second, at least). Pretty cool seeing that the return was spitting almost-black fluid back into my canister.

Read your factory shop manual on how to clean your injectors. Look at the information on the pintle holes. If you ever clean a pintle hole you will see that it is impossible for any chemical that you add to your fuel to clean your injectors. You could soak the pintle in straight purge or seafoam and it will not clean the carbon out of your injector holes.
There are a variety of chemicals that you can add to your fuel for a boost in performance. Once the chemicals are burned you are back to where you started. Spend your money on cleaning your injectors the way that Mercedes and Bosch tell you to do in the manual. Some people say their car runs better when they drink Jack Daniels, I don't recommend this approach either. |

I just ordered a case of the stuff, as two cans never seem to be enough. I like to run four to six cans and go on a little drive. Under load I think it cleans much better. Works fairly well in my experience, but it is a bit costly at around $10 per can.

Diesel purge directions:
You buy a can of diesel purge, Take the two rubber hoses that attach to the metal fuel lines off and stick them in the can. Run the car at varying engine speeds untill the can runs out. It takes about 5-7 minutes.

I have a bunch of good injectors and a bunch of gunked up ones.
next week I'll be building an injector tester, and I'll run a bit of diesel thru and take pics, and I'll pick the less good ones (not a completely fouled one) and run some diesel purge thru, and record the difference with the camera, and post. how bout that? I've never done a diesel purge, so have no bias one way or another. I'm willing to bet it's doing at least as much for the IP as the injectors. I don't suppose dieselgiant would like to send me some free of charge so I'm not biased? wishful thinking. seafoam vs diesel purge: smell and compare. the average human nose is pretty good at that, especially the mechanic's. I've got a buddy at Chemtool www.chemtool.com (makes lots ofchemical products for Caterpillar among others. top notch place. ) I'll ask him. no bias I'll be doing a diesel purge on my 85 f250 as well. will report on that too. and on the junkyard engine I'm going to be putting in a new to me 85 SD will report back karl |
