OM601 injector heat shields
Howdy,
I recently replaced my injectors with Bosch rebuilt's a couple of months ago but had a couple of probs that maybe you could help me with: (1) I could not get the heat shields out. Is there a trick to this? I did a search but all I could find is advice to use a lag screw. This seems like a good way to do bad to the prechambers. (2) One of the original '84 SD240/ nozzles was blued (burnt) pretty good. What would cause this? I didn't disassemble the old injectors until I got my Bosio nozzles so I'm not sure which cylinder this came out of. I meticuously cleaned the existing heat shields and didn't see anything particularly bad about them but I do have new ones. Any advice? I will probably put the rebuilt injectors in next weekend. A bent length of clothes hanger wire should do it. If not, cranking the engine should blow out the heat shields. Don't forget to push down the stop lever.

thanks much. I'll give it another try this weekend.
