5 speed 300d turbo

My original 240D (4 speed) fw and crank were marked with green paint marks. Since I purchased the car new, and never had it apart, they had to be factory marks. My original clutch had 340,000+ miles on it... and I am pretty tough on a clutch (see earlier post about blown tranny). I will get the 617 fw and have it balance to match the auto plate that I removed from the donor turbo motor. I did punch them before they were seperated, just in case. John, in your case if you just did an auto to manual swap in your 240D then your fw would be the correct one for the 240D motor.

Tom, it is a 1982. I have never seen a better car for all around use, comfort, and cost of maintenance than a 123 diesel. I don't need or want video games, boom boxes, power everything in my cars. These cars are the perfect size yet still have plenty of room and a big trunk. The visability is waaaay better than any new car I have seen, and still look like a Mercedes Benz should look. If someone gave me a brand new MB... I would sell it. You can't tell them from any other car on the road. Design all the cars in a wind tunnel and the all look the same. I have spoken.

i love them too.

82 and 83 240s are the best in my experience. sticks preferred, and very nice with a 300 motor.

about the only weakness is the ac system.
