About the fuel guage

Can somebody tell me what the R stands for on the fuel guage? I looked up Empty in German and that evidently isn't it.

Thanks
Ce

I always assumed it was for "reserve" ?

This reminds me...The "reserve" light in my wife's 300D is stuck on all of the time. I need to look into that.

Your owners manual will confirm that R = Reserve and should spell out how many gallons are left when the gauge gets to R. On my 300E it is around 3 gallons.

Mine has done that a couple of times over the years.
I pulled the sending unit. Pull the nut off the bottom plate and remove it and the tube. Hose everything off with carb/choke spray. Reassemble and it works great for a few more years. Gets rid of the needle twitch as well. I hear you can soak it in RUG, too. But, I never have a fuel safe container that deep/shape/size around at the time.
Be careful with those tiny wires!!

I will do that this weekend...while it's on the brain.

Thanks for the post! It does shake too, so it'll be nice to get that fixed.
