Nope, in fact I had adjusted the idle via the idle screw several times a couple weeks ago to try different rpm's (I tried everything from 650-950) and it still vibrated real bad in gear and no foot on the pedal.

Current idle rpm is back to what it always was, about 700 or so, and now its happy and smooth. Makes 0 sense.

I don't think the oil has anything to do with it. I have about 5k on the currant Delo in the SD and she runs just fine.

Pressed steel air cleaner mounts cracked off,my '84 did the same thing, nuts and washers rattled off, truly embarrasing vibration AND chassis harmonic at idle,re-welded 2 cracked mounts, made liberal use of lock washers and THREADLOCK and problem solved, hell, what do you expect with over 200,000 miles, longevity does carry a penalty...CONSTANT VIGILANCE.....

Well, the aircleaner still has a broken bracket, the farthest back one (to the passenger cabin) close to the engine is where the bracket sheared off, its about a 4cm piece of metal. My dad is going to try to JB weld it tomorow....we'll see how that goes....we've had some super results with this stuff on several other things...so why not try it here too.

However, even with the two good mounts + broken one, it is running smooth and the cleaner is in there really solid....for now, it obviously puts more strain on those two mounts that are left. Hopefully JB weld will fix the problem....if not, we'll try to have a friend weld it back together.

I agree it likely wasn't the oil, but its pretty amazing how much of a vibration that air cleaner housing can cause! The engine does seem smoother in general though.....maybe thats from the oil.

Bit of advice, old sport. J B weld is simply a vinyl-based adhesive that will break under tension and stress, drive to a welder and have it mig-welded,a really simple thing to do so long as the shear point is reasonably accessible.
