noisy AC compressor

Hi,
I found a broken screw (one of the 3 long ones) that causes the ratteling.
The car is a 83 SD.
Is there a trick to get the remaining threat out of the compressor body without disconnecting the hoses?
The compressor is the disc shaped one.
Tom

Hmm. not much room up under there to get an easy out...

which bolt broke? top, middle or side? if it is the side you may not need it, it really just gives something for the adjuster bolt to attach to. as far as I can tell. ( I just got through replacing the belt WAPIA!@)

John,

of course it is the top one.
I will try to take off the whole stuff that fixes the compressor to the bloc and see if I can drill it out.
Thanks.

Tom
