Mix and match turbo parts experiment
I was wondering if someone out there that happened to have a turbo off an OM603 (TBO359 or TBO360) could see if the compressor housing and wheel would fit on their OM617 (TAO301, TAO310, or TAO314) turbocharger and mate with the intake manifold correctly.
The TBO359 or TBO360 have a trim of 50 vs the stock OM617 turbo's trim of 45. Its a much better match in my opinion. You end up with higher compressor efficiency from 2250 rpm and up. This means less backpressure and more power. I have calculated that you will probably get about 1HP more power close to 5000 rpm from reduced back pressure alone. Anyone willing to try it?
