1984 300D 5-speed

Hi guys. I havn't posted in a while, been pretty busy. I posted a while back about my mechanic's car.. a euro '84 300D 5-speed.. I'm going to be offering it for sale.

He built the car himself about ten years ago. It's red with an AMG lower body kit and Ronal 5-spoke rims. The car started out as a euro 280E. He put in an '85 300D engine and 5-speed manual trans. The car has a black cloth (not velour) interior with power windows, auto climate control with A/C, sunroof. It's in really, really nice shape. He built the car, then sold it to a local woman who drove it from 50,000 miles to it's current 215,000.. she just sold it back to him. He just gave it a valve adjustment and oil change. What do you think this car is worth? I'll have photos by Friday and I'll be putting it up on ebay.

Why not put it up here? Some member may appreciate it. Why waste a potential reasonable condition car on ebay.

Because folks want as big a pile of $ as they can get......

Often times, that will motivate somebody who hasn't been around for awhile to come back.

My mistake. I thought you were just asking value and was going to offer it to the world on ebay.

I'll have to read the posts alittle closer I guess....

And if someone is seriously interested in the car, they will contact me. I did not say "nobody here can have it.. it's only available to ebay". I am putting a feeler out here before I do list it with no reserve.

My dream car!

Saw this car on ebay today. Had to save the pictures because it is so sweet! Unfortuately I won't be able to buy it - Katja the 240D and Dora the Ford Explorer have already sucked up my extra car funds.

The interior and exterior looks beautiful. It's obviously a repaint, but then, so is my car...it looks just fine though except for minor rust. The Euro lights, bumpers and cloth interior are nice. I remember seeing W123's in Germany in the 80's and wondered why the US models always had the cheap looking bumpers, round headlights and vinyl interiors (now if I could only find some Euro headlights for my W115).

I can only imagine what the 5 speed would be like in an already peppy 300D turbodiesel. I love the 4-speed manual in my 240D but wished it had a 5th gear....

Someone's going to be really happy with this car and I hope they are on this forum or will join so I can live vicariously and hear how this car performs!

All euro cars that were imported had to be Americanized.

Did you keep the original cluster so the buyer has a idea of what the true mileage is ?

When they are imported, they convert the KM and set the new odometer in it's equivalent in miles.

I'd be more concerned with rust...that car seems to have a lot. Thankfully they weren't trying to hide that fact.
